ABOUT

KATE PICONE
Kate PICONE was born in Winnipeg, MB, grew up in Kanata, ON and landed in Brossard, QC as a teen, on the outskirts of Montreal. Creative, imaginative, curious and strong-willed, she expressed herself as a teenager and young adult through several different art forms, finally choosing painting as her principal artistic medium in her mid-twenties.
As a self-taught visual artist, Kate’s art reflects moments and specific events in time, represented through vivid colours and varying abstract and figurative depictions. Through her work, Kate’s objective is to share fundamental sensations in different colour tones, shapes and brush strokes, communicating at an innate and powerful level with the viewer.
Her artwork is inspired by the need to express stories and truths in which words need not be used. The flow of paint takes form in her work, representing experiences and core emotions having the ability to traverse the concept of the individual. One could say that her paintings are a time-line of the events of her life portrayed to share the realities of the human condition with others. Her desire is to communicate through her art the inextricable truth that we are not alone in our understanding and grasp of the Universe.
